how to control a motor with an RC receiver?

I'm making an RC car (electric) for a school project and i got a receiver out of my gas RC car. It currently controls 2 servos. How would I replace one of the servos with a motor, preferably with speed control. what do i need to buy and how much is it.

Depends on what kind of motor you're going to use. There's dozens of choices here: http://search.horizonrc.com/index.jsp?vno=72&S=HH%20RC&sid=11802668FC94&Ntt=Car+Speed+Controls+%26+Accessories&Ns=p_demandrank%7c1&N=0

Here is an electronic speed control for a 15 turn brushed motor for $30:

Best bet may be to take your car to a local hobby shop and get a recommendation.

Good luck!

you have two choices brushless or brushed, brushless has three wires , brushed has two wire. Get a speed control for your type of motor it hook into the throttle port on the receiver here you go. Just pick one that is just a little bigger them you need so you don't burn it up wright off the bat. (I.E) 5 Amp motor 5.5 - 6 Amp control
