what upgrades ON A ELECTRIC RC 1/10 ON ROAD CAR will make the most improvement?

its for a touring car, 2 parts i guess one is what parts to upgrade(motor, battery, lighter parts etc) , the 2nd is what tuning (things like height, camber, spring tension, toe in/out,aerodynamics even?)
Im new to rc but have raced cars before and keen to try it for a bit of fun.

Making changes to the front and rear diffs is one way to make the car handle quite differently, and different tyres make a big difference too. Use foam on carpet, and rubber outdoors.
Make changes to only one part at a time, use the car as standard and make a change then note how it changes the car. If you know what will affect the car in a certain way, you will soon learn how to get the best set up.
But like the other guy said, there is no substitute for practice. Being consistently quick and knowing your car is more important than fitting expensive upgrades.

practice is the number one thing you can do to improve your lap times. smooth clean runs are what you need to win races.

as far as what i would change first. if the car is not equipped with a brushless motor/esc i would buy those. also lipo batteries weigh a lot less and don't suffer from the memory problems that nicd and nimh batteries do. but if you don't have the skill to drive the car cleanly in the first place it wont matter how many parts or how expensive the parts you buy are.
