starting electric RC racing car?
I am looking into an RC racing car(1/10th scale) and I have a budget of $400. I have decent experience having other RC cars and such, and my neighbor with a track has told me I drive his cars very well. I am looking for a buggie, truggie, or truck. it doesn't matter if it is brush or brushless, I prefer brushless, and I need a good battery and a good charger. NO LiPo. Please help me out as I am new to these cars.
i would strongly recommend Traxxas. they have the best cars, trucks, buggies. i have several of their products and have never had a problem with them. i would recommend their VXL Brushless series. they cost around $250-300 depending on where you buy from. a good 6-cell pack will cost you somewhere around $50-60, and Traxxas has a charger for $50. if you want something cheaper the Traxxas Slash is a really fun truck and costs about $200 and is upgradeable to brushless.

First off let me say if you are looking to race competitively plan on spending much more than that. I personally dumped about $1,300.00 into my AE TC5 before I got bored and sold it.
If it is more recreational use you are seeking then I recommend trying HPI's E10 series or Flux models. HPI makes a good starter car and replacement parts are usually stocked by your local hobby shop.
As far as batteries go I would pick out a good pair or 5000 MAH battery packs. The higher the MAH on a battery the longer the run time. I like 7 cell packs because they give you more punch (8.4v vs. 7.2v) 1.2v per cell, the more volts the faster the motor spins.
For the charger I have a Venom pro charger, it will charge all batteries known to man so if you do decide to go with LiPo later on it will handle it.

5 years r/c experience
I recently bought a 1/10 nitro buggy for $180 of ebay. Communication was excellent and my new product arrived in 3 days. The car runs excellent and never had any problems for 3 months now. The car I bought was the atomic warhead. This store also sells good quality electric cars for around the same price. If interested check out the site (link below) PayPal is accepted. Plus postage is fairly cheap assuming you live in Australia.
