How can i make my RC electric car go faster?

i have a 7.2 Volt remote control car and i want to make it go faster what do i need to do to make it go faster? do i need to put a capacitor some where or a diode please any help would be appreciated.
yea tried that i stuck a 9.6 volt in it, it did make it go faster but i want more speed, plus the battery got extremely hot any other suggestions.

You could boost the voltage going to the motors, or change the gear ratio.
